Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  1. Implement and administer the Environmental Health and Safety Program in compliance with all applicable directives, regulations, and laws.
  2. Report directly to the Quality Manager on all safety and compliance matters.
  3. Develop and monitor safety and hazardous waste management programs, including creating new programs in the absence of pre-existing ones.
  4. Serve as liaison with Base Safety, Fire Department, OSHA, and other agencies.
  5. Possess knowledge of the Navy Fire Warden Program and serve as Site Fire Warden Point Coordinator, managing waste and chemical storage, inspections, and emergency procedures.
  6. Conduct safety inspections, represent the company during audits, and recommend corrective actions.
  7. Monitor safety trends and hazards, and suggest management improvements.
  8. Develop recommendations for tools, equipment, procedures, and training to ensure safety and quality.
  9. Work with experts to develop or modify safety equipment.
  10. Perform site surveys and inspections to ensure compliance.
  11. Maintain safety and hazardous waste records and reports.
  12. Manage the Respiratory Protection Program and coordinate PPE use.
  13. Investigate incidents, accidents, and safety concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
  14. Determine medical surveillance needs and coordinate related tests and evaluations.
  15. Represent the company at safety meetings and coordinate safety committees.
  16. Assist in developing and managing the Chemical Waste Program and waste management procedures.
  17. Interface with government and base officials on waste management issues.
  18. Maintain knowledge of relevant complex regulations and ensure compliance.
  19. Serve as On-Site Accumulation Point Coordinator, managing waste storage, disposal, and emergency response plans.
  20. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  21. Assist in reviewing maintenance instructions and quality procedures.
  22. Maintain safety bulletin boards and monitor aircraft operations within hangars.
  23. Ensure compliance with safety, security, and inventory policies.
  24. Document work using government and company systems.
  25. Assist in safeguarding government and company equipment and ensuring adherence to quality control policies.
  26. Perform additional duties as assigned, maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
Position Scope and Qualifications:
  • Completion of U.S. Armed Forces Hazardous Waste courses or equivalent, or two years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of complex safety and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Course A-493-0072 for Respiratory Protection Program Manager or ability to complete it.
  • GSE licensing, airfield operator license, and valid state operator license as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships and work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work in various environments including offices, hangars, and flight lines.
  • Walk long distances, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in extreme temperatures, noise, and hazardous conditions.
  • Perform visual inspections and operate measurement devices.
