Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for construction projects across multiple sites. The EH&S Engineer will support safety programs, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety Related field and a recognized safety professional certification (BCSP GSP or ASP).

• Recognized Safety Professional Certification (BCSP GSP or ASP) required.
• Professional communications skills verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document and mitigate hazardous conditions and verify corrective actions.
• Support incident investigations with interviews, data collection, photographs, and proper documentation.
• Evaluate planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work and Pre-cast Tilt-Up for proper mitigation.
• Apply Industrial Hygiene principles in hearing conservation, lasers, silica, asbestos, lead work, etc.
• Understand fire protection and safe storage/management of flammable materials.
• Maintain working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety program requirements.

Seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for construction projects.

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (WT) provides construction management services to numerous clients in a multitude of business sectors, throughout the United States. WT Business Offices have delivered successful construction projects in healthcare, higher education, laboratories, business offices, manufacturing, retail development, food processing and warehouse development. Construction activities are unlimited and require the EH&S Engineer to have a broad range of technical and managerial expertise.

Minimum candidate Accreditations

• Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety Related field
• Recognized Safety Professional Certification (examples)
  • BCSP (GSP or ASP)

Successful candidates must demonstrate the following experience and/or capabilities:

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions have been completed.
• Support incidents investigations to include interviews, data compilation, photographs and completing proper documentation.
• Evaluate various planning/permits such as: Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up as examples for effective and appropriate mitigation techniques.

Working Conditions

• Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor constructions jobsite settings requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
• Work hours will be determined at the Project or work assignment basis.
• Noise level varies based on location.
• Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
• Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
