Georgia-Pacific' is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our San Leandro team as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator. EHS Coordinators support the team to attain manufacturing goals while adhering to environmental, health, and safety standards. Long-term value is created through the application of our Principle Based Management business philosophy.

The EH&S Coordinator will assist in providing leadership, strategic direction, and support for plant operations. This position will drive environmental and safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies. The Site EH&S Coordinator will establish Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) metrics, goals and benchmarks that drive excellence while aligning and optimizing the Manufacturing Enterprise in delivering value to the business that meet or exceed business and company EH&S objectives and requirements.

What You Will Do In Your Role

• Collaborate with the EHS Manager & Operations Leadership in understanding and adhering to safety policies and procedures, safety audits and EHS training
• Develop and support safety operations leadership skills through a robust Compliance System Owner (CSO) process
• Assist the EHS Manager & Operations Leadership with regulatory requirements relating to OSHA, RCRA, EPA, and DOT requirements
• Conduct environmental and safety inspections as required
• Investigate and report incidents
• Proactively maintain knowledge of current and emerging federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulatory requirements affecting the facility
• Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory, personal/department locks, and other safety equipment
• Facilitate and document operational & physical HIRA's and Department Risk Assessments
• Engage with personnel on the floor to focus on safety and build their personal safety knowledge
• Support safety improvement efforts with support from the leadership team and CSOs
• Assist in day-to-day EHS compliance with training, inspections, PPE, and external stakeholders
• Routinely work in a loud/noisy, hot, humid, dusty, greasy, and high-volume environment
• Uphold and exhibit Principle Based Management (PBM) values

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Two (2) or more years of Environmental, Health and Safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health and Safety Management, Environmental Science, Natural Sciences or Biological Science
• Experience using root cause analysis
• Experience in a safety, environmental and/or quality role

For this role, we anticipate paying $35.00 per hour.
