Job summary

Darling Ingredients in Fayetteville, NC seeks an Environmental and Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with environmental permits and safety programs within its manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities include administering safety programs, OSHA training, inspections, monitoring air and water, EPCRA/SPCC reporting, and coordinating with management to maintain compliance across operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience (2 years preferred) in quality assurance, food production, agriculture, or related field.
• Preference for a Bachelor Degree in Safety and Environmental, Engineering, Agriculture, Industrial Management or related field.

Responsibilities

• Administers Darling Ingredients Safety programs including OSHA training for new employees and annual trainings.
• Conducts environmental compliance training, site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation.
• Ensures compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety regulations.
• Monitors and operates environmental control equipment (air, water).
• Collects and reports environmental monitoring data to comply with permits.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

The Environmental and Safety Coordinator works within the manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with facility environmental permits and all required safety programs.

• Administers Darling Ingredients Safety programs which includes, but is not limited to, conducting OSHA safety training for new employees, annual training of employees, monthly safety committee facility walk-through, and advising safety committee in accident review processes.
• Conducts training of employees in environmental compliance, site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation to ensure compliance in the following:
• Wastewater Permits (LAS or Sewer)
• Storm water Permits and Pollution Prevention (SWPP)
• Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)
• EPCRA (SARA) Compliance and Reporting
• Boiler Permits
• Business and Operating Licenses
• Ensures compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety regulations.
• Ensures proper monitoring and operation of environmental control equipment (air, water).
• Collects and performs environmental monitoring/sampling/reporting as necessary to comply with permits.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Safety and Environmental, Engineering, Agriculture, Industrial Management or related field is preferred.
• Highly organized; superior time management skills.
• Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
• Self-motivated; self-starter; able to multi-task.
• Works well with others in a team environment.
• Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
