Job summary

DuPage County Health Department seeks an Environmental Health Lab Technician in Wheaton to conduct potable and non-potable water testing and manage QC procedures in our internal water laboratory. The role includes a paid training program with state code reviews and lab manuals; state certification will be provided as a certified lab analyst for potable water analysis.

This full-time position runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of environmental safety and quality control practices.
• Ability to perform laboratory analysis and interpret results.
• Experience with computer systems for data entry and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Performs water testing and chemical analyses per state codes.
• Operates lab equipment such as microscopes, autoclaves and pipettes.
• Prepares specimens and maintains chain-of-custody documentation.
• Develops and maintains quality control procedures per regulatory authorities (IEPA, IDPH, USEPA).
• Communicates results to clients and documents follow-up actions.
• Maintains training, supervises interns, and supports administrative staff.
