Job summary

The County of Mendocino in Ukiah is seeking an Environmental Health Specialist to enforce health and environmental laws. You will meet with the public, designers, and facility operators to explain regulations and assist in completing permits for food, pools, and other facilities.

Under supervision you will investigate complaints, prepare reports, inspect sites, review plans, and issue permits. Requires CA REHS certification, a relevant bachelor's degree, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology/Environmental Health or related field.
One year of progressively responsible related experience.
Valid CA REHS certification and driver's license.

Responsibilities

Meets with and advises the public, contractors, and operators on health issues.
Investigates complaints and collects evidence; prepares reports.
Inspects facilities; reviews plans and applications; issues permits.
Reviews underground storage tanks, water systems, and hazardous materials handling.
