Job description

Overview

Long Prairie Packing, LLC, has an opportunity for a Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The EHS Manager manages Company safety policies and procedures and ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DNR regulations. This individual will bring new ideas, be conscientious, self-starting, and strive for excellence in all responsibilities. The EHS Manager will also directly manage the health services department.

As our Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you will:

  1. Ensure compliance with all regulations and standards at the site.
  2. Serve as the primary contact for safety issues.
  3. Investigate industrial accidents and incidents.
  4. Follow up on significant accidents to ensure necessary changes are made promptly.
  5. Maintain relationships with safety organizations and participate in their activities.
  6. Keep safety and environmental records and permits up to date.
  7. Coordinate and conduct safety training to maintain compliance.
  8. Act as the main contact during inspections by safety and environmental agencies.
  9. Perform industrial hygiene monitoring as needed.
  10. Order safety and environmental equipment beyond regular purchasing.
  11. Conduct regular facility inspections, discuss findings, and develop action plans.
  12. Report regularly to Company leadership on safety activities and status.
  13. Maintain proper regulatory records (OSHA/EPA) and develop efficient reporting mechanisms.
  14. Note: This description is not all-inclusive; employees may perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in meat or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with OSHA, EPA, and related regulations, including technical understanding.
  • Management experience with diverse workforces.
  • Knowledge of 40 CFR regulations and state/local MN regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to ongoing education on regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting across all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or related degree.

What We Offer:

  • Base salary range: $70,000 to $82,500, variable based on experience and location.
  • Additional compensation includes bonuses, benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision), 401(k), disability insurance, paid holidays, and career development programs.
