Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to regulate water systems, pools, mobile home parks, and related facilities in Seminole County. The role involves permitting, inspections, and enforcing state environmental health standards.

The incumbent may travel within the county up to 80% per day, work outdoors in varying weather, and collect and analyze water samples. A bachelor’s degree in a natural science is required, with strong analytical and reporting skills

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry or natural sciences.
Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific data and prepare technical reports.
Able to work outdoors in inclement weather and travel within Seminole County as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively and work independently with public and regulatory stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Regulate water systems, pools/spas, mobile home parks, food and group care facilities to ensure compliance with Florida rules.
Coordinate all permitting and inspection activities for assigned facilities.
Review forms, conduct inspections, collect and review water samples and test results.
Perform well water sampling and monitor contractor compliance in well construction programs.
Prepare daily activity reports, time sheets, logs, and maintain records as required.
