Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Spring 2027 Co-Op in Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering to join our team and gain real-world experience on projects that impact communities nationwide. You’ll work with experienced engineers, collaborate with interns, and see how solutions move from design concepts to field implementation.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.
• Some knowledge of ArcGIS, CADD, Excel and Access is also preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Target Timeline: Ideal applicants will be available to work on a January to May cycle.
• Get Hands-On: Research and develop engineering solutions that support real projects—from analysis and planning to reporting and design.
• Work With the Pros: Collaborate with senior engineers, fellow interns, and multidisciplinary teams while learning how different engineering disciplines come together to solve complex challenges.
• Put Your Tools to Work: Build reports, presentations, maps, designs, and other project deliverables using ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
• Get Out in the Field: When opportunities arise, join our teams in the field and experience construction management activities firsthand.
• Build Your Future: Develop technical and professional skills, expand your network, and learn from engineers who are actively shaping the future of water, infrastructure, and environmental engineering.
• Perform other duties as required.
