Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking an Environmental Engineering Principal to lead and grow our Austin, Texas environmental practice.

The role focuses on shaping project portfolio, recruiting and developing staff, and expanding client relationships across air, water and waste sectors. Responsibilities include managing projects, budgets, and senior direction on diverse environmental projects, with emphasis on regulatory compliance and business development.

Qualifications

• BS in Geology, Environmental Science or Civil/Environmental Engineering, MS a plus
• Current Texas licensure as a P.E. or P.G., or reciprocity with Texas
• 10+ years of environmental consulting experience, 5+ in supervisory roles
• Strong leadership, team-building and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated business development and client management experience
• Familiarity with regulators (TCEQ, Texas Railroad Commission, USACE, USEPA)
• Ability to communicate professionally, including regulatory submittals
• Experience managing multiple projects, budgets and staff
• Health and Safety/OSHA compliance experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the environmental practice in the Gulf Coast and Texas regions
• Manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities
• Oversee project delivery, budgets and scheduling across multiple projects
• Provide senior direction on environmental projects (air, water, waste)
• Supervise technical and administrative staff and mentor junior staff
• Coordinate regulatory submittals and liaison with regulators
