Job summary

Anchor Glass Container LLC is seeking an Environmental Engineering Manager to lead environmental strategy, audits, and compliance across multiple plants. The role partners with corporate leadership to advance sustainable practices and prevent environmental risk.

The successful candidate will implement programs, train EHS staff, and drive regulatory reporting, permitting, and waste management while promoting a culture of environmental excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental (preferred) or related field (natural sciences, engineering, chemistry, or similar).
• 5+ years in Environmental field with increasing responsibility leading and directing teams (large organization preferred).
• 1-3+ years supervisory experience preferred.
• Professional environmental certifications preferred.
• Demonstrated success in improving environmental performance and establishing best practices.
• Knowledge of air, waste, water and spill regulations in Oklahoma, Minnesota, Indiana, and New York preferred.
• Experience with Title V air permits is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Instruct plant EHS managers to insure consistent application of environmental policies and procedures.
• Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify environmental hazards and recommend solutions for minimizing or eliminating risks.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Monitor compliance with environmental regulations through review of internal documents and on-site inspections.
• Investigate complaints alleging violations of environmental regulations and take appropriate corrective action.
• Educate employees on environmental regulations and best practices for minimizing waste and reducing pollution.
• Work with other departments to develop and implement processes and procedures that minimize the impact of company operations on the environment.
• Manage the development and implementation of environmental management systems.
• Oversee the disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
• Negotiate with regulatory agencies on behalf of the company.
• Stay up-to-date on developments in environmental science and technology.
• Advise SLT on recommendations for optimal environmental management.
• Partner with engineering services manager to insure proper preventive maintenance is being conducted on equipment that contributes to environmental footprint.
• Establish and maintain companywide recycling system.
• Partner with stakeholders to achieve Eco Vadis Gold status.
• Insure the safe and proper storage of hazardous waste abiding by regulatory requirements.
