Job summary

Anchor Glass Container LLC is seeking an Environmental Engineering Manager to lead the environmental function across our facilities and partner with corporate leadership to advance sustainability. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental (preferred) or related field
• 5+ years of environmental experience with increasing responsibility leading teams
• 1–3+ years supervisory experience preferred
• Professional environmental certifications preferred
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Experience managing corporate environmental programs
• Knowledge of air, waste, water and spill regulations (US)
• Experience with CEMS and COMS systems preferred
• Travel approximately 50% to multiple plant locations

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental policies and programs to ensure regulatory compliance
• Instruct plant EHS managers to ensure consistent application of policies
• Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and mitigation
• Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies
• Monitor compliance through internal documents and on-site inspections
• Investigate complaints and drive corrective actions
• Educate employees on environmental regulations and best practices
• Collaborate with other departments to minimize environmental impact
• Manage environmental management systems implementation
• Oversee hazardous waste disposal per regulations
• Negotiate with regulatory agencies
• Serve as liaison with environmental groups
• Stay current on environmental developments

The successful candidate will partner with corporate and facility leadership to establish a strategy and advance a culture of environmental excellence throughout the company and facilities. The Environmental Engineering Manager leads the environmental function in creating, implementing and monitoring environmental strategies to promote sustainable development. The successful candidate will also carry out environmental audits and assessments, identifying and resolving problems and ensuring necessary changes are implemented to ensure permit, legal, and regulatory compliance.**MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES****:*** Develop and implement environmental policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations* Instruct plant EHS managers to insure consistent application of environmental policies and procedures* Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify environmental hazards and recommend solutions for minimizing or eliminating risks* Prepare and submit environmental reports required by regulatory agencies* Monitor compliance with environmental regulations through review of internal documents and on-site inspections* Investigate complaints alleging violations of environmental regulations and take appropriate corrective action* Educate employees on environmental regulations and best practices for minimizing waste and reducing pollution* Work with other departments to develop and implement processes and procedures that minimize the impact of company operations on the environment* Manage the development and implementation of environmental management systems* Oversee the disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with regulations* Negotiate with regulatory agencies on behalf of the company* Serve as the company liaison with environmental interest groups* Stay up-to-date on developments in environmental science and technology* Advise SLT on recommendations for optimal environmental management* Partner with engineering services manager to insure proper preventive maintenance is being conducted on equipment that contributes to environmental footprint* Establish and maintain companywide recycling system* Partner with stakeholders to achieve Eco Vadis Gold status* Insure the safe and proper storage of hazardous waste abiding by regulatory requirements**EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS****:*** Bachelor’s degree in Environmental (preferred) or related field (natural sciences, engineering, chemistry, or similar)* A minimum of 5+ years of work experience in the Environmental field with increasing responsibility leading and directing teams. (Large organization preferred)* 1-3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.* Professional environmental certifications preferred.* Demonstrated success in improving environmental performance and establishing best practices.* Proven examples of effective communication and listening skills.* Demonstrated team leadership skills. Experience in managing Corporate Environmental programs.* Passion and drive for environmental.* Strong self-motivation skills, with proven ability to successfully work independently.* Knowledge of air, waste, water and spill regulations in Oklahoma, Minnesota, Indiana, and New York preferred.* Ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations.* Experience with CEMS and COMS systems is preferred.* Experience with Title V air permits is preferred.* Travel - 50% (traveling to all 4 plant locations required)
