Flint Hills Resources' Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota is seeking an Environmental Engineer (Waste Focused) to support environmental compliance programs and promote environmental stewardship. A foundational degree in a related engineering or science field is required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in refinery or petrochemical settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Apply subject matter expertise and excellent communication skills to help operation, business team and project management capabilities understand, identify and meet environmental compliance requirements and drive environmental excellence through continuous improvement.
  • Become an owner or custodian of assigned environmental programs. This may include reading and interpreting regulations, preparing and submitting periodic compliance reports, and maintaining compliance records as required by company policy and environmental regulations.
  • Partner with facility waste contractors and site waste technicians to ensure timely and compliant management of waste.
  • Perform routine inspections of waste storage areas to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Motivate, influence and drive good business decisions forward while working with a diverse workforce.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Participate in facility audits and conduct independent audits to verify and enhance environmental performance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota is hiring an Environmental Engineer (Waste Focused) to join our team. We are seeking a principled entrepreneur to support our efforts to continually innovate and transform our environmental compliance systems and promote environmental stewardship. The ideal candidate must be able to embrace and lead change, possess strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and efficiently balance multiple priorities. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or Civil Engineering; Environmental Science; or a related science discipline
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience in a refinery or petrochemical setting
  • Experience in environmental compliance
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws governing environmental compliance
  • Knowledge of state and federal waste management regulations

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
