Otter Tail Power Company is seeking an Engineer II/III in Fergus Falls, MN, to support environmental services across critical infrastructure projects. You will help ensure regulatory compliance, develop environmental plans, and drive sustainable operations within a diverse energy portfolio.

The role reports to the Manager Environmental I and offers growth opportunities toward professional licensure, with responsibilities spanning permitting, data analysis, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related field) required.
• 2–5+ years of experience in engineering or environmental services.
• EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure preferred.
• Foundational knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to interpret technical data.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering plans and specs incorporating environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in development and renewal of environmental compliance plans (SPCC and stormwater).
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports to state and federal agencies.
• Analyze environmental and operational data to identify trends and support decisions.
• Support permitting activities and project development, including preparing applications and approvals.
• Collaborate on construction and environmental projects across generation and infrastructure.
• Evaluate environmental impacts on cost, schedule, and constructability.
• Maintain knowledge of regulations and emerging policies to support compliance strategies.
• Communicate technical information clearly to internal teams and regulators.
