Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in New York seeks an Environmental Engineer to support our engineering practice with a strong background in environmental design, construction, and operation. The role focuses on water and wastewater system designs and field activities.

The ideal candidate will conduct site investigations, develop remedial action plans, and coordinate with subcontractors while ensuring high-quality project documentation and client communication. A valid NY driver's license is expected.

Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in environmental science, geology, engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of environmental consulting experience with primary focus on environmental engineering, environmental due diligence, field investigations, and sampling.
• 40-hr HAZWOPER and 10-hr Construction certification would be a plus.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Implement site investigation/characterization and remedial action work plans, including collection of samples and field reports.
• Prepare and review project specifications and engineering drawings.
• Coordinate and oversee subcontractors including remedial contractors and labs.
• Prepare reports and review laboratory data and appendices.
• Complete expense reports accurately and timely.
• Prepare Community Air Monitoring Plans and Health and Safety Plans.

Overview

TRC is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support our engineering practice in New York. The position requires a strong technical background in environmental engineering design, construction and operation, and experience with water and wastewater treatment system designs.

Responsibilities

• Implement site investigation/characterization and remedial action work plans, including but not limited to collection of soil, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air, and surface water samples; logging of soil characteristics utilizing a standardized soil classification system; implementation of community air monitoring plans; and preparation of daily field activity reports.


• Prepare and review project specifications and engineering drawings.


• Coordinate and provide oversight and direction to subcontractors including remedial contractors, drillers, geophysical surveyors, and analytical laboratories.


• Preparation of associated reports, including report text, supporting field documentation (e.g., photograph, soil boring, test pit, monitoring well construction, and well development logs) and other appendices, and review and tabulation of laboratory analytical reports.


• Accurate and timely completion of expense reports.


• Preparation of Community Air Monitoring Plans and Health and Safety Plans.

Qualifications

Required skills:

• Demonstrates excellence and efficiency in writing, communication, data analysis, professional judgment, and knowledge of scientific principles.


• Strong sense of responsibility and work ethic, with a desire for career growth.


• Strong quality assurance/quality control skills and detail-oriented to perform technical, style, and consistency reviews.


• Ability to manage time and multiple project assignments.


• Working knowledge of health and safety practices.


• Conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel.


• Exposure to environmental consulting work in New York City a plus.


• Ability to work in a project team.


• Ability to work on long-term field assignments in the New York City area.

Required experience:

• B.S. or B.A. in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field.


• 2 to 5 years of environmental consulting experience with primary focus on environmental engineering, environmental due diligence, field investigations, and sampling.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
