Qualifications

• Requires licensure as a professional engineer or professional geologist in Illinois or 10 years environmental engineering experience.
• Familiarity with the Illinois Environmental Protection Act and related regulations; understanding of EPA programs and CFRs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical and litigation support to assure compliance with environmental laws and orders.
• Participate in meetings with defendants to develop technical compliance plans to abate pollution.
• Review and evaluate engineering reports to assess adequacy of proposed compliance plans.
• Assist in discovery by supplying information and responding to document requests.
• Provide depositions and expert testimony at trials as needed.
• Evaluate technical and economic feasibility of compliance plans and monitor implementation under court orders.
• Review Process Hazard Analyses and Risk Management Programs for potential hazards and adequacy.
• Approve scope of work and recommendations addressing identified hazards; conduct inspections of facilities and landfills.
