Job summary

The New York State Office of Mental Health seeks an Assistant Engineer (Environmental), Grade 20, to join the Administrative Support Services Group in Albany. The role provides technical oversight for environmental compliance within OMH's capital program and coordinates with consultants and facilities staff.

Travel statewide is required; the incumbent reviews project documents for compliance, guides environmental services, and supports the Joint Commission accreditation process.

Qualifications

• FE exam cleared and degree in engineering or engineering technology as listed.
• Optionally 1 year of environmental or sanitary engineering experience with FE.
• Eligible for NY HELPS program non-competitive appointment.
• Degrees include Civil, Environmental, or related engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental compliance for OMH capital projects.
• Provide direction to environmental engineering consultants.
• Review project documents for accuracy against program objectives.
• Assist with environmental issues during capital improvements.
• Travel statewide to OMH Psychiatric Center locations as required.
