This position is located in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division - Watershed Protection Branch - Regulatory Support Program, Safe Dams Unit. The incumbent will be part of a team that regulates high hazard dams across the state, reviewing plans and specifications for dam construction and rehabilitation, ensuring permit compliance, inspecting dams, drafting enforcement documents, and reviewing inspection reports and technical documents.
Effective communication with the public, industry, consultants, and officials is essential, requiring clear articulation of technical concepts and strong technical writing skills. The role involves database management, requiring experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. It includes office and field work, with travel and overnight stays across the state. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable working in remote, water-adjacent locations, often near lakes, with potential encounters with wildlife and rugged terrain. Safety gear will be provided.
Salary is based on education and experience, in accordance with State Personnel Board Rules. The posting may close early if a suitable candidate is found.
