Job summary

PPG is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer for its Circleville, Ohio plant. You will provide direction to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with environmental, safety, and health laws and regulations.

Sit onsite, report to the EHS manager, and engage with manufacturing and engineering teams to unify EHS messaging. Responsibilities include managing permits and reporting under CAA, CWA, EPCRA, and advancing sustainability metrics.

Qualifications

  • Must have 5+ years of experience with CAA, CWA, and EPCRA permits and reporting.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Broad understanding of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG environmental regulations and policies.
  • CAA, NPDES, SPCC, and RCRA permitting and reporting responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response and contingency plans.
  • Collaborate with EHS and engineering teams to communicate a unified message.
  • Support ISO14001 compliance and EPCRA reporting.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Teams (ERT).

We are hiring an Environmental Engineer for our Circleville, Ohio plant. As an Environmental Engineer, you will provide direction, and training to provide a safe and healthful workplace for the PPG associates. You will ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and health laws and regulations.

You will have close interaction with all levels of the manufacturing, corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), technical and engineering organizations to provide a unified EHS message.

You will sit onsite and report to the EHS manager. Come make an impact with PPG!

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG environmental regulations and policies.
  • Clean Air Act (CAA) Title V Operating Permits, New Source Review, and Minor Source permits compliance; including emissions reporting and compliance documentation.
  • CAA Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards, including the Miscellaneous Organic Chemicals (MON) MACT and the Miscellaneous Coatings Manufacturing (MCM) MACT standards reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Manage the Clean Water Act (CWA) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) water permits (Industrial and Stormwater).
  • CWA Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan inspections and management.
  • Resource Recovery and Conservation Act (RCRA) and state-level Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal) for both Large and Small Quantity Generator(s)Developing and maintaining emergency response and contingency plans.
  • Compliance with ISO14001 requirements.
  • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA) Reporting consists of SARA 312 (Tier II) and SARA 313 (Toxic Release Inventory).
  • Participate in our facilities Emergency Response Teams (ERT).
  • Develop leading indicators that improve sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste) and spill incidents.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to motivate change.
  • Must have a broad understanding of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience with CAA, CWA, and EPCRA permits and reporting.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a broad understanding of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations.
