Traylor Bros., Inc. is seeking an Environmental Engineer to coordinate and administer a construction environmental program, including permitting, compliance, and engineering solutions in line with company policies. The role involves leading environmental matters for challenging infrastructure projects.

You will work with project teams to develop and implement strategies, monitor permit conditions, and maintain records while engaging with agencies and the public to uphold safety and ethics.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 1–5 years related work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate with agencies and manage compliance documentation.

Responsabilidades

  • Coordinate with engineering and construction personnel across facilities and develop training for compliance.
  • Maintain an environmental compliance database and coordinate reporting to agencies.

  • Collaborate with EHS manager to implement environmental strategy.
  • Develop practical solutions to meet environmental requirements.

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision and using independent discretion, this position is responsible for coordinating and administering a construction project environmental program, including all aspects of the permitting and compliance processes, provides engineering solutions to meet environmental needs, and leadership on environmental matters in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assist in obtaining and monitoring all environmental permits necessary for the permitting and construction of the project and other related operations to ensure compliance.
  2. Coordinate with engineering and construction personnel at multiple facilities including developing training programs to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Maintain an environmental compliance database which coordinates compliance reports to agencies and/or internal parties, coordinates monitoring to meet permit conditions, and brings all worksite facilities into compliance with environmental laws.
  4. Maintain an Environmental Management System which coordinates legal requirements and compliance tasks, establishes environmental objectives and targets, determines roles and responsibilities for environmental activities, and maintains a document and record system.
  5. Identify and monitor environmentally significant issues and advise management on the appropriate action to include notification of third party inspectors and support personnel for environmental issues related to hazardous waste, stormwater, water and water treatment, biological (wildlife and plant life), and archelogical and cultural issues.
  6. Works closely with the project’s construction managers and and Environmental, Health and Safey (EHS) manager to develop and implement a comprehensive and practical environmental strategy.
  7. Solves technical problems and develop solutions to meet environmental requirements.
  8. Builds and maintains excellent working relationships to enhance Traylor’s reputation through highly professional interaction with the general public and public officials, including those with perspectives that are contrary to Traylor’s objectives.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, or other related engineering field required.
Work Experience
  • 1-5 years related work experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Must have demonstrated decision making skills.
  • General understanding of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures.
  • Experienced with scheduling, working with subcontractors, budgeting and cost control.
  • Ability to establish relationships with agencies and represent Traylor in a public forum.
  • Public speaking and ability to communicate with management and the client.
  • Technical writing skills necessary for preparation of inspection reports, memos and other documents requiring descriptions and summaries.
  • Ability to work with all levels of construction project crafts and management personnel to successfully coordinate and complete work requirements.
  • A team player.

The employee frequently is required to stand (for up to 8 hours), walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
