Job summary

Green Bay Packaging Inc. is seeking an Environmental Engineer to help stay ahead of regulations and protect operations by improving air, water, and waste management. You will partner across teams, lead meaningful projects, and drive improvements in environmental programs.

The role involves developing compliance records, managing permits, training, and coordinating internal audits to support regulatory obligations and continuous improvement at multiple facilities in the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, with water regulations (CWA, NPDES) preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with people at all levels.
  • Comfort working with data and reporting information with attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Problem-solving skills and curiosity to identify root causes.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Initiative and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in wastewater and stormwater permitting, regulatory reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance condition management for converting operations. Maintain water compliance records, monitor permit requirements, review capex projects for water permitting implications, and develop regulatory knowledge related to discharge, stormwater, and wastewater applicability and compliance obligations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance records, plans, and reports. Ensure applicable environmental regulatory permits are maintained.
  • Resource assigned divisions with comprehensive environment compliance (air, water, waste) assist: program implementation, records, permitting, troubleshooting, management of change and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct training and develop training materials to communicate requirements and general awareness.
  • Complete records and reporting for compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations for environmental programs.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal auditing of environmental and divisional programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement with strategic objectives for best fit.
  • Manage environmental technical projects, with program accountability and understanding for all levels of stakeholders.
