The EHS Specialist in Cincinnati, Ohio, will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of Hillenbrand’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. The role ensures compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations across the site, focusing on fostering a safe, sustainable, and compliant workplace through data analysis, reporting, auditing, and proactive site support.

Work You’ll Do

  • Collect, analyze, and report EHS data, including incidents, safety observations, near misses, and key metrics.
  • Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures aligned with Hillenbrand standards.
  • Support incident investigations by conducting root cause analyses and tracking corrective actions.
  • Coordinate or deliver site-specific EHS training on relevant topics.
  • Lead safety committee meetings to promote safety awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects aimed at reducing risks to people and the environment.
  • Ensure timely completion of action items from investigations, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Liaise with external regulatory agencies to support compliance initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a robust safety culture at the site.
  • Foster safety awareness and promote incident prevention with a positive attitude.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Travel: Approximately 25%, primarily within the U.S. (Naperville, IL; Pittman, NJ; Grand Rapids, MI).

Team: The EHS Team is a dedicated group committed to shaping a safer tomorrow by partnering with clients to deliver impactful solutions. This role reports directly to the EHS Head of Americas.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment; multi-site experience preferred.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory agencies concerning environmental and safety compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety standards applicable to manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and influence, even without formal authority.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, remotely, and on EST hours.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in EHS or a related discipline.
