Job summary

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) is seeking an Environmental Education Assistant for Ray Brook to support Education, Summer Camps, Public Outreach and Education Staff activities. You will help deliver programs, assist training, recruit campers, and engage with the public on DEC's mission.

Responsibilities include leading education sessions, coordinating with schools, preparing lesson plans and materials, and helping with program logistics.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in environmental education programs or one year college study with specialization in natural science, natural resources, or environmental education.

Responsibilities

• Education - Conduct student, adult, family and public education and outdoor recreation programs.
• Summer Camps - Assist summer camp educators in camp staff training and recruit campers for the campership program.
• Public Outreach - Interact with the public at fairs, festivals, and other events to promote DEC's mission and environment.
• Education Staff - Assist education staff with scheduling programs, creating lesson plans, filing documents, and maintaining living collections and supplies.
