Job summary

GSI Environmental Inc. seeks an Environmental Data Analyst to strengthen our data management, analysis, and visualization team.

You will build and maintain relational databases, develop ETL pipelines in SQL, Python, and R, and provide query, reporting, and visualization support across projects. The role involves collaborating with engineers and scientists, performing QA on datasets, and creating dashboards and reports aligned with project goals.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or higher in data science, computer science, statistics, environmental science, or related field.
• 2–5 years in data management or analysis with strong relational DB skills.
• Advanced SQL for data cleaning, transformation, and structuring.
• Familiarity with data modeling, normalization, and backups.
• Experience with Python and/or R for analysis, visualization, and dashboards.
• Shell scripting (Bash) and Linux command-line comfort.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain relational databases of environmental chemistry data from multiple sources.
• Build ETL and analysis workflows in SQL, Python, and/or R.
• Support statistical and spatial analyses with multidisciplinary teams.
• Create dashboards and formatted visuals for technical reports.
• Organize data to support automation and downstream analysis.
• Perform QA on analytical databases to ensure data integrity.
• Support projects from litigation to research data mining.
• Communicate findings to clients clearly.
• Complete tasks on schedule and within budget while meeting quality standards.
