Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support in air monitoring control systems and evaluate performance.
• Oversee responses to environmental alarms and record in database for semi-annual NESHAP reports.
• Coordinate repairs with engineering and maintenance for air monitoring equipment.
• Advise maintenance personnel on pollution control and treatment systems.
• Support negative air testing and dust mitigation plan management.
• Assist in stack testing coordination and reporting.
• Oversee baghouse policy inspections and corrective actions.
• Support quarterly baghouse inspections and work orders.
• Assist in preparing compliance reports.
• Monitor wastewater compliance and reporting.
• Act as internal auditor for ISO 14001 EMS.
• Oversee SPCC plan inspections and reporting.
• Respond to spills per SPCC plan.
• Assist in implementing programs for safety training (fall protection, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hot Work).
• Support other EHS programs as required.

Job Purpose

Provide administrative environmental support to the Environmental Specialist. Monitor environmental systems in place and identify corrective/preventative actions. Support in environmental systems/policy creation and critical asset management. This position will report to the Environmental Specialist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Administrative support in air monitoring control systems and evaluation of their performance.
• Oversee response to all environmental alarms and record responses in designated environmental database for semi-annual NESHAP reports.
• Work with engineering and maintenance on repairs to all systems related to air monitoring and control devices.
• Advises plant facility maintenance personnel regarding pollution control and treatment systems and assists in operations and maintenance as required.
• Support negative air testing of buildings per our permit requirements.
• Dust mitigation plan management and roll out including documentation of all activities.
• Assist in stack testing coordination and planning.
• Oversee activities and reporting associated with baghouse policy. Including maintaining documentation of daily baghouse inspections and associated corrective actions.
• Support facilities with quarterly baghouse inspections per our corporate policy. Including work orders are completed based on inspection results.
• Support the Environmental Specialist with the preparation of compliance reports.
• Monitor and complete wastewater compliance activities and reporting.
• Act as an internal auditor in compliance with our ISO 14001 certification and environmental management system.
• Supports record keeping and monitoring of other environmental permits.
• Oversee SPCC plan and complete associated inspections and reporting.
• Acts a responder in spill response per our SPCC Plan.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining technical programs for skill-based employees (i.e. fall protection, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Space, and Hot Work).

Supports the implementation and monitoring of all other EHS programs as required.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or similar degree and/or 3 years of relative work experience.

Language Skills: Fluent verbal and written skills in English. Effective interpersonal communication skills a must.

Mathematical Skills: High level of accuracy in basic math and use of 10 key calculator.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to associate cause and affect relationships and determine patterns of activity in anticipation of change to the operation or personnel.

Computer Skills: Must have strong intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Visual Emission Certification, Hazardous Waste Certification, HAZWOPPER, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.
