Job description

Oversees and supports legal and regulatory environmental compliance by administering related programs, projects, and functions, as well as providing technical and training support to field operations. Serves as a knowledge resource to other environmental compliance specialists and field operations personnel. Coordinates and provides oversight to contracted environmental consultants and vendors.

Essential Functions
  1. Implements and monitors environmental compliance programs for an established territory, working closely with other compliance specialists to support regional compliance programs. Programs may include, but are not limited to, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, above and/or below ground storage tanks, environmental due diligence, and other associated programs.
  2. Travels routinely to conduct station audits within an established territory and collaborates with station management to create action plans to resolve identified issues.
  3. Travels on short notice to assist station management with regulatory audits, inspections, violations, spill responses, training, community complaints, and general compliance support.
  4. Coordinates and communicates with internal and external customers, vendors, and local, state, and federal agencies.
  5. Prepares and submits environmental permit applications to relevant agencies.
  6. Works with vendors and consultants for compliance needs, including establishing scope, preparing specifications, obtaining bids, and managing contracts.
  7. Provides guidance to station management on environmental equipment, systems, and controls.
  8. Serves as a hazardous materials resource, implementing internal policies and procedures.
  9. Evaluates environmental assessments for property acquisitions, reporting observations and recommendations to management.
  10. Supports station management with internal audits.
  11. Trains and guides Environmental Compliance Specialist I as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, policy, compliance, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, with familiarity in specific regulatory programs such as stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, waste, air quality, storage tanks, and environmental due diligence.
