The State of Georgia is seeking a qualified candidate for a remote position in the Environmental Protection Division. This role involves conducting inspections, enforcing regulations, and providing education on lead-based paint and asbestos management. Applicants should possess a relevant bachelor's degree and experience in customer relations and compliance inspections. The position requires travel within Southern/Coastal Georgia and offers teleworking capabilities.
This position reports to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division - Land Protection Branch Recovered Materials Program - Lead-based Paint and Asbestos Unit. It involves planning and conducting survey inspections of pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities, enforcing rules, providing education on Georgia's Lead-Based Paint Hazardous Management and Asbestos Removal and Encapsulation rules, responding to complaints, conducting outreach, and offering technical assistance to the regulated community and other EPD programs.
This is a remote position covering the Southern/Coastal areas of Georgia, particularly east of I-75 and south of I-16, with approximately two days of travel per week to locations such as Savannah, Brunswick, and Valdosta. The role requires the use of a state vehicle housed within the coverage area and teleworking capabilities with reliable internet access. Initial training and occasional refreshers may require overnight travel to the metro region.
