Job summary

Wetland Studies and Solutions Inc., a Davey company, seeks a mid-level environmental compliance specialist to join our Gainesville, Virginia team. Ideal candidates have a B.S.

in Environmental Studies or related field and at least 1 year of experience in VPDES inspections and reporting. Responsibilities include inspections and reporting, SWPPP development, and coordinating with federal and state agencies on wetlands, erosion and sediment control and stormwater compliance.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies or related field.
• At least one year of experience performing Erosion and Sediment Control and/or Stormwater compliance inspections and reporting.
• DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control and/or Stormwater certifications.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors.
• Willingness to regularly travel regionally and out-of-state.

Position Overview

Ideal candidates will have a B.S. in Environmental Studies or related field and at least 1 year of experience performing environmental compliance in relation to Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) inspections and reporting. Job responsibilities will include inspections and reporting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development, and coordinating with federal and state resource agencies with regard to wetlands, erosion and sediment control and stormwater compliance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Erosion and Sediment Control and/or Stormwater certifications
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
• Ability to work independently and with a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) familiarity
• Familiarity with the VPDES Industrial permit and associated monitoring experience
