Job Description Summary :
As a key member of the Environmental team, you will oversee the compliance of the sites assigned to the position. This includes ensuring adherence to environmental permits, civil engineering plans, and SOLV Energy's National Environmental Compliance Program for utility-scale solar projects. The role requires frequent site visits, strong writing, and computer skills. The ideal candidate will be based in the Midwest or Southern U.S. with access to an airport.
Key Position Responsibilities and Duties :
- Perform onsite compliance inspections every four (4) to eight (8) weeks, depending on the season and project needs.
- Communicate environmental compliance requirements clearly to the field team, including project-specific Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements, state-specific NPDES permit requirements, SOLV Energy's National Environmental Compliance Program, and owner contract requirements.
- Ensure ongoing project compliance by overseeing inspections, corrective actions, and repairs; maintaining and updating SWPPP documentation; verifying proper installation and maintenance of Best Management Practices (BMPs); and recommending proactive corrective actions for erosion, sediment, and permit compliance issues.
- Provide mentorship and hands-on training to Certified Inspectors, ensuring field teams understand compliance protocols.
- Utilize Sunscreen software to review inspection reports and follow up on corrective actions.
- Draft SWPPPs, revegetation plans, reports, and other necessary documents for projects.
- Complete additional environmental tasks as assigned.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements :
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the time across U.S. utility-scale solar projects.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Civil / Environmental Engineering or Construction Management.
- Preferred expertise in Vegetation Management, Wetlands Delineation, Soil Science, and Native Revegetation.
- Certification in Stormwater Pollution Prevention or ability to obtain upon hire (e.g., CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC, QCIS).
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory processes, stormwater programs, and soil grading practices.
- Ability to interpret civil plans and specifications, and problem-solve in the field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and ability to learn Workday and Sunscreen software.
- Effective communication skills, problem-solving ability, and adaptability to diverse construction environments.
Work Environment and Physical Demands :
- Occasional climbing, carrying, and working near moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, heavy equipment exhaust, and weather conditions.
- Sufficient mobility and visual/auditory acuity for site inspections.

$98,742 - $123,428 annually.
