Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking an Environmental Manager for our Cartersville, GA steel mill. You will lead regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and drive the environmental strategy for a large-scale operation.

Responsibilities include managing Air, Water, Stormwater programs, overseeing the EMS, and partnering with site leadership to optimize environmental performance while mentoring a team of environmental professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of environmental compliance experience in steel manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state environmental regulations, permitting, and reporting.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies, audits, and EMS (Environmental Management Systems).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs, permits, and reporting (Air, Water, Stormwater, SPCC, Hazardous Waste, etc.).
• Oversee the EMS and drive environmental performance improvements.
• Manage environmental KPIs, capital projects, audits, and compliance action plans.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and leadership.
• Support landfill operations, groundwater monitoring, remediation, and emissions control.
• Lead and develop environmental personnel and promote stewardship.
• Advise plant leadership and back up Health & Safety leadership.
