Job summary

ERM is hiring a Lead Environmental Compliance Consultant embedded with a technology client in Boydton, VA. This full-time role supports strategic development and compliant execution of environmental permits for data center construction.

The position is a 12-month term with a possible 6-month extension, requiring coordination with subject-matter experts, permit managers, and construction teams to ensure regulatory compliance and timely delivery. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in project management and environmental permitting.
• Knowledge of CWA 404/401 permits in Virginia.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience with large-scale construction or mission-critical facilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with subject-matter experts to satisfy compliance obligations and Environmental Requirements based on the construction schedule.
• Coordinate with Permit Managers to understand permit conditions and drive understanding for Construction teams to ensure compliance with all environmental approvals
• Manage environmental and construction consultants supporting site delivery, inspections, reporting, agency discussions, and AHJ notifications.
• Identify and mitigate issues during construction related to stormwater, wetlands, streams, endangered species, cultural resources, buffers, tree preservation, and air compliance.
• Support regulatory agency, stakeholder and community engagement for new builds.
• Develop environmental risk and compliance mitigations to enable datacenter construction and operations.
• Oversee environmental compliance planning for pre-construction activities and turnover, reporting status and contributing to Environmental Excellence program.
