Job summary

ERM is seeking a Lead Environmental Compliance Consultant embedded with a technology client in Boydton, VA. This full-time, 12-month role with a possible 6-month extension focuses on strategic development and compliant execution of environmental permits for data center construction during the build phase.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of CWA 404/401 permits in Virginia.
• Minimum of 5 years of project management and environmental permitting experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain cross-functional working relationships.
• Experience with mission-critical facilities or large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with subject-matter experts to satisfy compliance obligations based on construction schedule.
• Coordinate with Permit Managers to understand permit conditions and inform Construction teams.
• Manage environmental and construction consultants supporting site delivery and reporting.
• Identify and mitigate issues during construction related to stormwater, wetlands, streams, and air compliance.
• Support regulatory agency, stakeholder and community engagement activities for new builds.
• Develop environmental risk and compliance mitigations to enable datacenter construction within timelines.
• Manage environmental compliance planning for pre-construction activities and turnover.
