Qualifications

As an Environmental Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor, driving early engagement, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to connect and align environmental compliance requirements with environmental review and project execution processes within the Environmental Department and across Organizational Units. You will also lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizens and process optimization efforts, to enhance operational effectiveness while advancing environmental stewardship across the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Provides subject matter expertise on environmental regulations and risks required to develop environmental compliance and/or service execution and delivery programs.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal partners and external agencies to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborates with operations and senior management in various organizational units to implement environmental controls including programs and procedures.
  • Directs multi-disciplinary technical teams of internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, to develop and implement environmental programs and permitting requirements.
  • Leads the procurement process for contractor needs including writing the Scope of Work, developing scoring approach and leading the evaluation of bids, and performs cost and spend analysis across the vendor portfolio to track and project workloads and budgets. Where applicable, provides oversight of vendor performance including budget.
  • Ensures process updates and changes are implemented in alignment with Environmental Management System standards.
  • Takes feedback from stakeholders, data requests, and analysis needs to improve risk assessment process to improve its efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prioritizes controls focusing on continuous improvement activities to inform Leadership on risk‑reduction outcomes and emerging issues or new regulatory changes of impact to the organization including risk mitigation.
  • Maintains detailed records and prepares related reports and studies for submission to regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of experience in environmental and/or related compliance fields and/or permitting.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building strategic partnerships and influencing decision‑making with operational, planning, or business leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, operational planning, governance, portfolio management, or business process improvement.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements, environmental review processes, permitting, project execution, or utility operations.
  • Experience coordinating across environmental disciplines to align compliance obligations with environmental review, permitting, and execution activities.
  • Experience leading or facilitating continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizens, Lean process improvement efforts, or operational excellence programs.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and balancing competing priorities across multiple projects or workstreams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills, including experience presenting to directors, managers, or senior leadership.
  • Experience analyzing performance metrics, service‑level agreements, or operational trends to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure, construction, utility, energy, environmental, or regulatory programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future business needs and develop strategic solutions that align operational objectives with compliance requirements.
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remote on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
