Environmental Asbestos Technician – St. Louis, Missouri
Intertek is seeking an Environmental Asbestos Technician I to join our Environmental team in St. Louis, Missouri. This role supports asbestos surveys, asbestos third‑party monitoring, lead‑based paint survey, and more, including fieldwork and technical reporting. Overnight regional travel may be required.
Shift/Schedule
Monday – Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM (may vary)
Responsibilities
- Perform field sampling of asbestos and other indoor air quality media as part of site assessment and remediation activities on projects as directed by senior team members.
- Assist in the development of work scope, report preparation, client and subcontractor coordination, and assessment of proper response actions.
- Maintain training records, field instrumentation, and certifications (including training updates).
- Participate in all QA/QC programs and safety programs as appropriate.
- Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to keep projects moving and on schedule.
- Operate testing equipment, conduct testing, and provide assessment of data through reporting.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- BS in Environmental Science or 5 years of experience in asbestos consulting or abatement industry.
- Some experience in asbestos, lead‑based paint, and/or mold inspecting, sampling, assessment, etc.
- Current or expired Asbestos Inspector License – State of Missouri or ability to apply for license within first 30 days of employment (Intertek will pay for class/licensing).
- Detail‑oriented, team player with excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Computer literate and able to operate field/office equipment related to the discipline.
- Capable of climbing ladders and lifting/pushing/pulling items with weights >30 pounds as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record, 15% travel.
- Willing to work off shifts, overtime, and occasionally out of town.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER.
- NIOSH 582 completed training.
