Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) for the Environmental Services Department. Required hours are 11:00AM - 7:00PM, including every other weekend. Starting rate $18.50/hr.

Essential duties include cleaning nursing units and patient rooms, following infection-control procedures, restocking carts, and reporting repairs. Prior hospital housekeeping experience and 1–2 years of customer service in healthcare are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50LBS.
• Prior experience in housekeeping in hospital or institutional setting preferred.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes cleaning equipment to clean nursing units, patients' rooms and designated areas including floors, woodwork, vents, sinks and furniture.
• Follows department policies for cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans major spills and responds to pages promptly.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at end of shift.
• Removes all trash and linen in the hospital.
• Follows cleaning solution preparation and bio-hazard handling.
• Monitors environmental needs in assigned areas and reports repairs to maintenance.
• Attends monthly department meetings and keeps updated on environmental services changes.
• Handles moderately complex issues and refers more complex ones to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids and other related duties.

• Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
• Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
• Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
• Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
• Reports any repairs to maintenance.
• Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
