Qualifications

  • Preferred degree in Economics, Urban Planning/Studies, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science/Studies.
  • Experience with quantitative modeling and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses in economic and climate contexts.
  • Perform feasibility analyses and market studies for urban development.
  • Research trends in urbanization, transportation, energy and economic development.
  • Prepare technical reports including calculations and modelling of environmental impacts.

Environment, People & Place specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Hatch is seeking a dynamic Environmental, People, and Place Analyst. Reporting to the Business Practices group, you will support offices globally working from our Houston, TX office location.

Qualifications:
  • Roles at this level are filled by recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills
  • Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field (e.g., Economics,Urban Planning/Studies, Architecture, Urban Design, LandscapeArchitecture Environmental Planning,Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science/Studies).
As the successful candidate, you will focus on:
  • Quantitative and qualitative analyses in areas such as economic and fiscal impact studies, benefit-costanalysisand cost of inaction in the context of climate change
  • Feasibilityanalysesand market studies for urban development/redevelopment
  • Case-study research on trends in urbanization, transportation,energyand economic development
  • Socio-economic analyses for economic policy development,infrastructureand real estate projects
  • Urban design, zoning,and land use planning studies
  • Environmental engineeringanalyses, including air, noise, soil, water, and waste management
  • Project development and design that mitigates impacts to air, noise, soil, and water, includingthe determination of applicable environmental legislation and standards, specification of environmental design criteria, collection of baseline environmental data,andmodelling and assessment of potential effects
  • Preparation of technical reports, including those calculations and modelling of impacts for air quality, noise, soil and groundwater contamination, and surface water
You bring to the role:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices ofurban planning, real estate, economics,land use and/or environmental policy,environmental science/engineering
  • Quantitative skills; experience withquantitative modeling (e.g.,financial, realestate, economic analysis/modeling, environmental, and climate change)
  • Ability to undertake research and compile information on a variety of planningand environmentalissues from multiple sources; prepare and present submissions/reports to support projects and ensure quality deliverables
  • Detail-oriented and outcome focused with a willingness to collaborate within and beyond the internal team and a desire to work in a dynamic,deadline drivenenvironment
  • An entrepreneurial and "can do" attitude, with an ability to work toward solutions despite real world constraints of limited data
  • Collaboration with integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising with and supporting global peers
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus onExcel andPowerPoint,ideallywith basic InDesign familiarity
