Position Overview

A growing leader in construction and utility services is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment Manager (HSE) to oversee HSE initiatives across multiple sites. The Safety Manager will be responsible for worker safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation, with authority to halt work in case of imminent danger.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage HSE training and compliance programs.
  • Foster a positive safety culture and aim for an incident-free environment.
  • Coordinate HSE activities with client requirements and regulations.
  • Conduct site assessments and audits.
  • Manage training programs including OSHA, confined space, trenching, excavation, first aid/CPR, and DOT compliance.
  • Lead employee orientations, safety meetings, and ongoing education.
  • Investigate incidents and ensure proper case management.
  • Maintain training records and OSHA documentation; generate safety reports.
  • Advise leadership on hazards and corrective actions.
  • Support multiple project sites with travel as needed (approx. 50%).
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of HSE experience in construction or industrial sectors.
  • 2-3 years as an HSE Trainer, preferably in industrial construction.
  • At least 3 years in underground utility construction safety.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations.
  • Experience with safety training and compliance documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Ability to work in various industrial environments.
  • Willing to work overtime or weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CHST certification.
  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • OSHA 500 Trainer Certification.
  • Additional training in trenching, excavation, confined space, traffic control, and DOT compliance.
