Howmet Aerospace is recruiting graduates to join our EHS Professional Development Program in Whitehall, MI. This 12–18 month program provides challenging, entry‑level EHS assignments in safety, industrial hygiene or environmental science with a designated mentor.

Participants learn Howmet EHS Management Systems, contribute to policy development and risk reduction while building leadership and project skills. Relocation may be necessary after the program, with minimal travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in EH&S field or Fire Protection.
  • ITAR US person status required; visa sponsorship not available.
  • Relocation may be required after program; travel <5%.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and implementation of EHS policies focusing on prevention, risk reduction, industrial hygiene, fire protection and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct assessments, develop procedures and deliver trainings.
  • Document and complete EHS self-assessments; learn Howmet EHS Management Systems.
  • Learn and apply Howmet's EHS culture and leadership expectations.

Howmet Aerospace is recruiting EHS Professionals to join our EHS Professional Development Program.

Howmet is a world leader in the investment casting industry and is a leading supplier of superalloys, aluminum, and titanium components for aerospace, automotive, and commercial transportation applications. Howmet's environmental, health, and safety values along with our leadership's commitment provide successful candidates an excellent environment in which to work and deliver results.

Our EHS Development Program is designed to provide challenging professional-level EHS assignments to recent or upcoming graduates in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection or Environmental Science. Candidates will serve in a developmental role at a designated US location and will work with a designated mentor for a period of 12-18 months. During this time, candidates will learn our EHS Management Systems and culture and be exposed to driving EHS success in a Howmet location. As these positions provide extensive experience and visibility in a short timeframe, they serve as an excellent tool to prepare you for an EHS role in one of our operating locations following the completion of the program. This long-standing program has helped develop successful EHS professionals across our company. An ability and openness to relocation is necessary for entry into the program.

Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assist with development and implementation of EHS policy and procedures with focus on prevention, risk reduction, industrial hygiene, fire protection and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct and complete assessments, develop procedures and conduct training.
  • Conduct, document and resolve EHS self-assessments.
  • Learn Howmet EHS Management Systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in an Environmental, Health, Safety or Fire Protection Engineering.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'). Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Relocation assistance provided. Expected travel is less than 5%.
