Job description

Position Title: EHS Director
Department: EHS
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for leading a team and overseeing, directing, and managing the EHS programs for our manufacturing plants located in the U.S. This is a multi-faceted role which encompasses the management and implementation of quality systems; development and implementation of quality processes, procedures, and tools; management of internal and external quality audits; and supplier management.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Establish and develop environmental, health, and safety procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements for manufacturing facilities based in the U.S.
  2. Support managing projects involving environmental site assessment, site investigation, and remediation of soil, groundwater, sediments, etc.
  3. Conduct land assessments for industrial, commercial, or residential sites for environmental impact.
  4. Perform field observation and field sample collections, testing soil, water, and air of the construction site.
  5. Investigate, record, and compile reports for environmental-related complaints.
  6. Plan pollution-control and waste treatment strategies.
  7. Facilitate and support EHS hazard identification and risk assessment in each responsible area.
  8. Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety-training programs.
  9. Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments with the determination of effective controls and risk mitigation in support of Environmental, Health, and Safety management.
  10. Direct and manage the Internal and external EHS Audit Programs, conducting Health & Safety inspections, audits, and surveys/assessments.
  11. Communicate actively with government supervision departments to ensure local EHS compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. University degree or above majoring in safety engineering or environmental studies.
  2. Minimum of 10-12 years of progressively responsible experience in an EHS-related field, preferably with administrative and management responsibility in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
  3. Demonstrate a working knowledge of best practices and environmental and safety rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state, and local.
  4. Experience and knowledge in OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements.
  5. Significant experience with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
  6. Knowledge of property insurance, electrical, and fire code requirements.
  7. Ability to obtain professional certifications in safety, health, or environmental professional organizations.
  8. Required knowledge in First Aid, CPR, and any other relevant medical training.
  9. Strong sense of responsibility, highly motivated, forward-thinking, and proactive.
  10. Good communication and teamwork skills, good problem-solving skills, and a “can-do” attitude.
  11. Ability to travel up to 30%.
