Job summary

DAVIS Construction seeks an experienced EHS Manager to lead safety across complex commercial projects in the Mid-Atlantic. This role partners with Operations, Project Teams, and leadership to proactively manage risk, investigate incidents, and develop safety programs.

You'll mentor EHS staff, oversee investigations, support OSHA inspections, and help drive continuous improvement while shaping the corporate EHS standards and training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience within commercial construction.
  • Experience supporting large, complex construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience leading investigations, inspections, audits, and corrective action programs.
  • Experience engaging directly with Operations teams, Superintendents, Project Managers, and Trade Partners.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Certifications such as CHST, STS, CSP, ASP or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS efforts on complex commercial construction projects.
  • Conduct jobsite audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Identify safety trends and implement proactive corrective actions.
  • Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans, and high-risk work activities.
  • Support project planning by integrating EHS considerations into logistics and construction sequencing.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings, trade partner safety meetings, and intervention meetings when necessary.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Serve as a resource during OSHA inspections, insurance audits, and third-party reviews.
  • Develop and deliver advanced safety training and educational programs.
  • Support development and refinement of corporate EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Mentor and guide EHS professionals within the organization.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership to strengthen project safety performance and accountability.
  • Support strategic EHS initiatives, innovation, and continuous improvement efforts.

Job description

Our client, DAVIS Construction, is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join its growing Environmental Health & Safety team. This individual will play a critical leadership role in supporting and advancing DAVIS's safety culture across complex commercial construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

The EHS team partners closely with Operations, Project Teams, Trade Partners, and Executive Leadership to proactively manage risk, strengthen jobsite safety performance, investigate incidents, develop safety programs, and ensure regulatory compliance across a diverse portfolio of projects.

As an EHS Manager, you'll serve as a trusted safety leader, providing oversight on complex projects, mentoring EHS staff, supporting trade partner accountability, leading investigations and audits, and helping drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Location
  • Frequent jobsite presence throughout the DMV region
  • Collaboration with project teams across multiple market sectors

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience within commercial construction
  • Experience supporting large, complex construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Experience leading investigations, inspections, audits, and corrective action programs
  • Experience engaging directly with Operations teams, Superintendents, Project Managers, and Trade Partners
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Experience developing safety programs, training materials, and field safety initiatives
  • Ability to influence project teams and drive accountability through collaboration and leadership
  • CHST, STS, CSP, ASP, or similar certifications strongly preferred

Salary Range

Compensation will be determined based on safety leadership experience, project complexity, certifications, and overall construction safety background.
