Job description

Our client is a well-established food manufacturer supporting some of the best-known brands in food and beverage. They’re hiring an EHS Manager to own environmental, health, and safety at their Indianapolis plant.

This is a hands-on, plant-floor role. It suits someone who would rather spend the day walking lines, coaching operators, and fixing problems than sitting behind a desk. You’ll be the site’s EHS leader, with real ownership, strong visibility with plant and corporate leadership, and the backing to build a safety culture that sticks.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the site EHS function day to day, including oversight of production operators
  • Own environmental compliance: waste management, air and water permits, and chemical management
  • Build and maintain EHS programs aligned with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ANSI standards
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through training, risk assessments, and continuous improvement
  • Run safety audits, inspections, and root cause investigations, and see corrective actions through to closure
  • Act as the site’s primary contact with regulatory agencies and lead inspections
  • Use EHS data to spot trends and drive measurable improvement
  • Partner with plant and corporate leadership on site security
What you’ll bring
  • 4–6 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing; food, beverage, or chemical processing is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ANSI requirements
  • A track record of taking EHS initiatives from identification through implementation with minimal supervision
  • Experience with EHS management systems, risk assessments, and root cause analysis
  • Credibility on the floor: you can lead, influence, and hold the line with operators and plant leadership alike
  • CSP or ASP certification preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field preferred
  • Comfort working in hot and cold production environments where common food allergens are present
