Description

Clean and sanitize rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Requires ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Must have excellent customer service skills and an ability to communicate positively with patients, families, and staff.
Ability to operate vacuums, buffers, shampooers, auto scrubbers, burnishers, carpet extractors, and other related cleaning equipment.
Ability to properly utilize internal communication devices such as beepers, cell phones, walkie-talkies when assigned.
Must have the physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds routinely and 60 pounds occasionally; bend from waist and knees; reach overhead; and stand for prolonged periods.

Functional Accountabilities
  1. Perform routine and specialized cleaning and job assignments as assigned, including specialty areas like Operating Room, Cardiac Cath Lab, Recovery room, IR rooms, MRI, Sterile Supply, etc.
  2. Maintain sterile fields as required by department policy.
  3. Remove trash and soiled linen, including linen on discharged patient beds, stretchers, and on-call rooms, using proper techniques.
  4. Replenish bathroom supplies as needed.
  5. Perform project work such as cleaning specialized equipment.
  6. Use cleaning chemicals according to their specific purpose and follow product directions.
  7. Restock carts and notify supervisor when supplies are low.
  8. Set up meeting rooms when assigned.
  9. Perform routine and restorative cleaning of floors.
  10. Complete daily checklists and logs of duties performed.
  11. Operate cleaning equipment according to instructions, replace belts and bags, and report mechanical failures.
  12. Clean and maintain cleaning equipment.
  13. Arrive and depart work on time, report to work as scheduled, and follow sign-in/out procedures.
  14. Report to work in uniform, which is clean, debris-free, and worn daily following department procedures.
  15. Attend departmental training sessions and mandatory annual training.
  16. Promote safety by speaking up about unsafe behaviors, verifying information, and practicing careful decision-making.
  17. Demonstrate effective communication and actively promote safety for all.
