As an Environmental Services Aide, you will perform routine manual housekeeping work, cleaning areas within any part of the MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

Selects cleaning materials and supplies, prepares solutions according to procedure, loads service carts, and transports them to assigned work areas. Cleans by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal solutions. Cleans walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, ventilators, patient televisions, and windows.
Sweeps and mops hard floor areas, vacuums carpets, and spot-cleans carpets using appropriate solutions. Arranges furniture and equipment after cleaning. Requests supplies when needed. Operates various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical.
Cleans equipment and reports repairs needed. Reports safety hazards. Returns unused supplies, cleans carts and equipment, and ensures items are organized. Collects waste, sanitizes waste cans.
May be asked to collect soiled linens, distribute clean linens, and handle bio-hazardous waste following established procedures and regulations, including packaging and transportation.
Prepares patient rooms after discharge, including cleaning isolation rooms. Cleans operating rooms and preoperative areas using hospital-approved procedures to maintain antiseptic conditions.
1-2 years of experience, preferably in a healthcare environment, required.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $17.50 - $28.73.
