Corewell Health’s Environmental Services team in Grosse Pointe is seeking an Environmental Service Technician. You will clean, disinfect, stock patient rooms and offices, and safely dispose of linens and waste while maintaining floors, carpets, and upholstery.

No experience is required; full training is provided. You will work days, Mon–Fri, 40 hours weekly, with opportunities to learn new skills and grow within our supportive hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow instructions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Public service or customer service experience in hospitality, hospital environmental services, or janitorial work is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and stock patient rooms, offices, and ancillary areas per procedures; remove linens and waste streams.
• Perform interim and restorative maintenance on hard floors, carpets, and upholstery per procedures.
• Assemble, maintain, and store equipment and supplies needed for tasks.
• Communicate and collaborate with team members to ensure continuity and coordination of services; report needs in area.
• Assist visitors and employees in navigating the hospital to reach destinations.
• Fully function within one cleaning area and cover across sites as needed.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required safety competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

You can make a difference in patients' lives as an Environmental Service Technician with Corewell Health. Your contributions in this role have a direct impact on high-quality care; you'll be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting assigned work areas, removing medical waste, trash, and linens, and maintaining the appearance and condition of our floors, carpets, and upholstery. Communication and collaboration with other team members are essential to ensure continuity of service and help foster a positive work environment. No experience is required - you will be fully trained and supported and can grow and learn new skills to develop your career.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas according to established procedures. Responsible for the removal and disposal of linens and waste streams.
• Performs interim and restorative maintenance to hard floor, carpets and upholstery according to procedures.
• Assembles, maintains and stores equipment/supplies that are necessary to complete tasks according to department standards.
• Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team to ensure continuity and coordination of services. Reports general maintenance and specialized cleaning requirements in work area.
• Assists visitors and employees in navigating through the hospital to reach their destination.
• Fully functioning within one cleaning area.
• May be expected to work across department sites for coverage and business need.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
