LAUREL FORD IS HIRING AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION APPLICATOR / RECONDITIONING TECH

Job Title: Environmental protection applicator / Reconditioning Tech

Summary

An environmental protection applicator job description typically refers to a worker responsible for applying a protective undercoat layer to a surface and/or an inner body liquid protection product, usually on vehicles, to prevent rust and corrosion. This involves thorough surface preparation, applying specialized undercoating material with spray guns or other application methods, and ensuring even coverage according to industry standards. Their primary task is to apply the initial layer of coating beneath the final finish coat. In addition to rust protection products, topical surface paint protection products may be applied as part of this job description. Bonus pay structure.

A reconditioning tech will prepare new and used cars for delivery and the sales lot.

Essential Duties of Environmental Protection Applicator

  1. Surface preparation: Thoroughly cleaning and sanding vehicle chassis and undercarriage areas to remove dirt, rust, and debris to ensure proper adhesion of the undercoating.
  2. Masking: Applying protective masking tape to sensitive areas to prevent overspray.
  3. Material selection: Choosing the appropriate undercoating material based on the vehicle type and environmental conditions.
  4. Application: Using spray guns or other application tools to evenly apply the undercoating material to the prepared surfaces.
  5. Quality control: Inspecting the applied undercoat for consistency, thickness, and coverage to meet quality standards.
  6. Clean up: Maintaining a clean work area and properly disposing of hazardous materials.
  7. All OSHA required PPE will be worn at all times while performing this job.
  8. Train with distributor twice a month to maintain proficiency.
  9. Communicate with management with completed assignments, schedule changes, and any equipment issues timely.
  10. Other tasks assigned as needed.

Essential Duties of Reconditioning

  1. Wash vehicle exterior, clean interior and exterior windows, and wipe down doorjambs.
  2. Vacuum interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.
  3. Clean out all cup holders, console, clean dashboard, seats, and carpet.
  4. Run defroster to ensure no dust comes out of vents.
  5. Clean upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
  6. Apply revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treat fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicals.
  7. Clean engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents if necessary.
  8. Apply special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations.
  9. Restore appearance of engine area, rugs, upholstery, and painted surfaces using touch-up paint and other appropriate materials.
  10. Use proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
  11. Apply dressing on tires and tire wells.
  12. Keep work area neat and clean.
  13. Report any problems with the repair to direct supervisor.
  14. Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  15. Report any safety issues immediately to management.
  16. Other tasks as assigned.
