Enviro Systems Mechanic I 2nd shift - Downtown Campus

Job Overview

Under direct supervision, performs skilled work in the installation, repair, alteration, replacement, and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating (all fuel types) equipment.

Responsibilities
  1. Install and maintain air-moving, heating, cooling, humidification, and filtering equipment and systems.
  2. Install and maintain refrigeration equipment and systems.
  3. Install and maintain heating and cooling equipment such as air compressors, dryers, and controls.
  4. Test and evaluate equipment performance, repair or replace defective parts.
  5. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  6. Prepare service reports and records.
  7. Use lifting equipment safely for heavy components.
  8. Provide guidance to apprentices or students as needed.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Four years of experience in refrigeration, heating, or air conditioning work, including apprenticeship.
  • Obtain refrigeration certificate (minimum Type 2) within six months of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and compliance with University Fleet Safety Program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of HVAC principles, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to braze refrigeration tubing.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate equipment needs and interpret technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, test equipment, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions and heights.
  • Effective communication skills.
