Job summary

Universal Health Services’ HOPE Center in Sacramento seeks a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain clean patient rooms, offices and public areas, ensuring a safe, compliant environment in line with OSHA and JCAHO standards.

Responsibilities include routine cleaning, assisting Plant Operations Director and Housekeeping Supervisor, handling biohazard cleanup when needed, reporting health concerns, and performing preventive maintenance as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 2 years experience in janitorial, light maintenance and security/safety duties, preferably in a health care facility.
• Experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment with proper safety.
• Incumbent must have understanding of Ohm's Law and Refrigeration theory; basic building maintenance knowledge.

The Heritage Oaks Patient Enrichment Center, more commonly known as the ‘HOPE Center,’ is a newly constructed, state of the art, 16-bed, Psychiatric Health Facility, serving the acute psychiatric needs of the community in concert with the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services.

The Housekeeper is responsible for daily janitorial and maintenance duties such as cleaning patient rooms, offices, and public areas, while ensuring a safe and risk preventive environment within OSHA & JCAHO regulations. This position also monitors the facility grounds, responds to all emergency situations as needed or requested.

• Perform routine cleaning tasks of patients’ rooms, offices and public areas as assigned by supervisor: Vacuum, dust, mop, sweep and take out trash.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. On-the-job training provided.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience in janitorial, light maintenance and security/safety duties, preferably in a health care facility preferred. Must have experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment ensuring proper safety precautions. Incumbent must have an understanding of Ohm's Law and Refrigeration theory, as well as experience in the area of building maintenance and basic mechanical engineering.

Additional Requirements: CPR Certification required. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Incumbent may be required to work variable shifts, overtime and flexible hours. Completion of Handle with Care class within 30 days of employment and prior to participating in a code green is required.
