Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center is currently hiring for a Environmental Service Worker/Housekeeper.
PSBHC is an intensive inpatient psychiatric program for males and females, ages 11 – 17 years old. We offer a highly structured supportive and safe environment for children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, family, and social challenges.
The Environmental Services Worker/Housekeeper position is responsible for cleaning duties to maintain a clean and aseptic environment throughout the facility, including residential units, common rooms, and non-patient areas. Maintains a professional demeanor in accordance with the service excellence standards while interacting with patients, patients' families, and coworkers.
This position is responsible for cleaning and servicing areas in the building according to the assignments for that area. Assignments include but are not limited to the following: sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting any and all rooms in the facility. Participating in project work that may include, but is not limited to wall washing, window washing, cleaning light fixtures, cleaning upholstery, cleaning vents, scrubbing restrooms, etc.
Individuals must have a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continual basis and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions. Immediate judgment as to whether a particular task can be performed at a particular time or whether one can return to that task in the immediate future or not; assurance that the adequate amount of supplies and equipment are available to complete the task assigned. Individuals must have the ability to perform tasks with due consideration to patients, staff, and visitors to the vicinity. Some initiative involved in determining cleaning to be done. Works under minimal supervision performing simple, standardized tasks and is responsible for working within the safety policies and procedures as defined by the facility. Report any unsafe working conditions or hazards to management immediately.
The position works 8 am - 4:30 pm; weekends included (Wednesday-Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off).

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED is preferred or Housekeeping Experience. Must be able to work with all cleaning supplies in a safe manner, be able to multitask with safety practices.
Ability to understand and communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Additionally, to be able to follow written and/or oral instructions, and to record completed assignments as required.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a hospital or patient facility preferred but not required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, and climb for periods up to eight (8) hours. Must be able to operate mechanical equipment used in the housekeeping department. Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions. Lift up to 50 lbs, carry 10 lbs.
BACKGROUND: Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and agree to take a pre-employment Drug Test.
