Entry to Mid Level Structural Engineer - Generation Division

Join POWER Engineers, a member of WSP, as a Structural Engineer in the Civil Structural and Architectural Department of the Power Generation Division. We aim to hire entry-level structural engineers to be mentored and developed into future leaders by our experienced engineers across Idaho, New Jersey, and Kansas. Help us serve clients such as Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, and Investor-Owned Utilities by addressing their challenges and implementing future power grid systems. Gain experience with diverse power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and substations
  • Design heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal building systems, and masonry walls/buildings
  • Design structural steel systems for buildings, platforms, and equipment supports
  • Coordinate design requirements with drafters/designers
  • Travel occasionally to client sites to interface with clients, verify existing conditions, and monitor construction (5%-10% travel)
Required Education/Experience
  • College graduate or up to 6 years of structural engineering experience (including 2025/2026 graduates)
  • BS Degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering from an ABET-Accredited University
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for interfacing with drafters/designers
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Education/Experience
  • MS Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn structural modeling/analysis software (RISA, STAAD)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects
  • Basic knowledge of building codes and material properties
  • Exposure to geotechnical engineering, pre-engineered metal building systems, seismic analysis and design
  • Open to long-term field assignments (1 to 18 months)
