Job summary

The Vallejo Police Department is seeking entry-level Police Officers to protect life and property, enforce laws, and engage with the diverse Vallejo community. This continuous recruitment will close when a viable candidate pool is identified.

Ideal candidates understand modern policing issues, communicate well, and interact effectively with a diverse community. Graduation from a POST-certified academy within the last 12 months is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Understanding of modern policing issues, philosophies, and trends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Enforces local, state and federal laws and ordinances.
• Patrols assigned areas by car, motorcycle, or on foot.
• Responds to calls and protects life and property; conducts investigations as needed.
• Prepares reports of arrests, activities, and incidents; participates in training and specialization as assigned.
